Anxiety is the worst. This breathing exercise, 4-7-8 Breathing, was made popular by Dr. Andrew Weil, and it is the most amazing tool to take your stress from here (holding hand up high) to here (holding hand much lower). If you don’t know about it, there’s a good chance you’re experiencing more stress than necessary.

Ironically, I’ve been a bit stressed out about my upcoming workshop, Meditation for the Busy Mind. It’s in TWO DAYS, and it’s the first time I’ve ever rented a space, made the food, created custom content and lessons, and put myself out there like this. Online posting is one thing; presenting my material in person is a whole other.

I’ve been utilizing the 4-7-8 Breathing Technique for a few years now, and it always amazes me. I’ll finish even three sets, look around, and be like         hmm, that was nice. 

It just slows you down. The breathing creates a shift from the sympathetic nervous system mode (fight or flight) into favouring parasympathetic relaxation, which is the mode conducive to rest and digest.
